Castle Court, Osprey Quay
Indigo advised as planning consultant on an application by the Sutton Harbour Group (working in close partnership with the South West RDA) to develop a large brownfield site adjacent to the Olympic Yachting venue in Portland.
This development, which comprises a training centre for the RYA, a 56 bed hotel, 39 residential units, pub / restaurant, self catering accommodation, supermarket, small retail outlets and B1 units, will provide much needed infrastructure to help regenerate the island and support the world class yachting events that Portland will attract both in the lead up to the Olympics and post 2012.
This application fell partly within a conservation area and was adjacent to the Grade I listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument, Portland Castle. As part of the application process a two day public exhibition was held which attracted local press coverage. The project team worked in close partnership with Weymouth and Portland Council achieving planning permission in 9 weeks for an EIA application.
