Mixed-use: Bromyard Avenue

Bromyard, Acton

Indigo secured planning permission for Berkeley Homes to redevelop the former Government premises for a mixed-use scheme incorporating over 600 residential units, and approximately 9,300m2 (100,105 ft2 ) for a separate bespoke replacement office building for the Department of Social Security. The office element of the scheme won the award for ‘Best Office Development in the South East' for 2004.

Indigo's role was to develop strategy to secure planning permission; lead negotiations with the local planning authority; deliver planning permission ahead of schedule; coordinate and produce a comprehensive environmental statement; and identify and persuade key influencers at the LPA and other bodies. A duplicate application was also considered at public inquiry and this appeal was project managed by Indigo with one of the directors appearing as expert planning witness.

In addition, on a site to the rear, formerly owned by the Home Office, Indigo Planning secured permission on behalf of Berkeley Homes in 2008 to create over 280 new apartments and houses including the re-housing of prison officers from Wormwood Scrubs in an arrangement with the Home Office and National Offender Management Service.
