Bill Davidson

Bill heads Indigo's Manchester office and has been with the company since 1995, prior to which he worked for other consultancies.

Bill advises a number of major developers, landowner and pension fund clients on a wide range of complex planning projects throughout the country.

Bill is experienced in giving evidence at  development plan, appeal and call-in inquiries and is currently advising on some major regeneration projects addressing sensitive environmental issues.

He relocated from London to Manchester in 2000 to set up and run Indigo Planning's Manchester office and has been a Director since 2001.

Principal projects include:
  • Port Salford - Leading the team advising Peel Holdings on the application for Port Salford; a multi-modal freight interchange enabling the transfer of freight between rail, road and sea (new berths on the Manchester Ship Canal). 150,000m² of rail-linked warehouses are included in addition to significant rail and road infrastructure, including appearing as an expert planning witness at the Salford UDP Inquiry.
  • Capitol Park, Goole - Planning advice to Sterling Capitol on the development of Capitol Park, Goole; a 280,000m² employment scheme requiring preparation of a full environmental statement and detailed negotiations to agree suitable mitigation for protected species. The development has regional significance in terms of regeneration benefits.
  • Booths Hall, Knutsford - Advising Bruntwood on the reconfiguration and development of offices on land at Booths Hall in Knutsford. The site is identified as a major developed site in the green belt and is therefore subject to particularly stringent planning policies. Advising on numerous office schemes in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, involving planning, conservation area and listed building issues.
  • Ellesmere Port - Negotiated consent for 500 dwellings on former industrial land in Ellesmere Port for Peel Holdings. Negotiation centred on S106 contributions and improvements to access to the town centre, which requires a new bridge over a railway.
